Old train station at Del Mar Gold Line station

An old Spanish style train station was updated to become the Del Mar Gold Line station at the southern edge of Old Town Pasadena. Today, the single story train station is surrounded by a 4 and 5 story Archstone apartment complex painted in brilliant Tuscan colors.

Going north on Raymond Ave., just outside Del Mar station, you will see the Castle Green facing onto Central Park.

Castle Green Pasadena The Castle Green was originally built as an annex to the much larger Green Hotel, which has been razed. Now it is condos. Escorted tours of the Castle Green's old public rooms are offered twice a year.

Then comes Colorado Blvd. in Old Town Pasadena--the street made famous by the Tournament of Roses parade.  Along Colorado are many, many restaurants plus lots of shopping.

Three important museums--the Norton Simon, the Pasadena Museum of California Art and the Pacific Asia Museum--can be reached easily from the Del Mar station or the Memorial Park station, the next stop on the Gold Line.  Our favorite: the Pasadena Museum of California Art on Holly street just east of Los Robles.
