Gamble House Pasadena California

The Gamble House in Pasadena offers docent-lead tours  of the interior Thursday through Sunday afternoons.

Built in 1908, the Gamble House in the Prospect Park neighborhood was designed by the famed architectural firm of Greene and Greene.  It is among the best known examples of Arts and Crafts architecture in Southern California and is now open to the public.

The Gamble House is just one of many very large Craftsman homes in the city, but relatively few are located in the neighborhood of Prospect Park.  Others, still privately owned, are in the Oak Knoll neighborhood.

Far more common in Pasadena are the smaller California Craftsman bungalows which took their inspiration from the Gamble House.

Prospect Park, where the Gamble House is located, is among the most affluent areas of Pasadena.  The homes face out onto oak tree lined streets on the east side of the Arroyo Seco.

One of the larger privately owned homes in Prospect Park is definitely not a Craftsman design.  This Georgian-influenced home could easily be located on the U.S. East Coast. You may have seen this home in commercials.

Prospect Park home three Pasadena California Still another architectural style--rather a mix of styles--is reflected in this home in the Prospect Park neighborhood in Pasadena.  Some Tudor elements are mixed with California Spanish Renaissance features.

To visit Prospect Park, go north on Orange Grove at Colorado.  The Gamble House is about two blocks north of Colorado on the left.
