Historic Highlands,  an official Landmark District in Pasadena, is just to the north, uphill, from Bungalow Heaven and its boundaries cross the Pasadena and Altadena city limits.  Like Bungalow Heaven, Historic Highlands has an annual  home tour.  The architecture in this neighborhood, however, is more varied than in Bungalow Heaven.

Historic bungalow Pasadena California This 1910 Craftsman bungalow, originally the home of Col. Griffith and his wife, has been featured twice on the Historic Highlands spring home tour.  This home and several others in this district are considerably larger than the ones in Bungalow Heaven.

Historic Highlands bungalow Pasadena California Built in 1912, this home, across the street from the bungalow shown above, has also been honored by being selected for the Historic Highlands home tour.  It has the low-pitched roof and dark shingles characteristic of this style.  The river rock on the front porch is a common feature in California bungalows.

Spanish Revival Home in Historic Highlands Pasadena Bungalows are not the only architectural style in Historic Highlands as this Spanish Revival home from the 1920s demonstrates.  There seems, however, to be a French influence to this exterior.
