boots, flamingos at Montrose Harvest Market

Looking for a pair of boots? Or pink flamingos for your garden?  Or perhaps you've been yearning for an old Elvis poster? The Thieves Market section of the Montrose Harvest Market has fresh treasures every Sunday. (NOTE: The Thieves Market for vintage items is no longer available. Alas!)

On weekdays Honolulu St. in Montrose is a quiet tree-lined shopping street with dozens of stores and restaurants catering primarily to the shopping habits of locals.  But Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. the Montrose Harvest Market springs into life in the middle of the street giving shoppers a mix of fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh flowers, artisan bread, hand-made soaps, and jewelry, hot foods, books, collectibles of every variety, plus children's activities.  And it all plays out to live music.

(To reach Montrose from Pasadena, go west on the 210 freeway and exit at Ocean View.  Then go south -- downhill -- to Honolulu Street.)
